Hi From Quincy, KY

Hi everyone! My name's Ashley and I am 22 years old. During my last week as a high school senior back in May 2008 I found out that my then fiance and I were expecting a little bundle of joy (after about 8 positive pregnancy tests on different days I finally accepted the fact, lol). I was super excited! Immediately we went out and began buying unisex things. I made my first doctor's appointment to a specialist, but he could not get me in until August so I had to wait. In July, I experienced severe cramping and heavy bleeding. I was scared and wanted to go to the hospital, but my cousin calmed me down by saying that she had menstruation through both of her pregnancies. With this, my fiance and I continued to create a nursery design for our little one, start on feeling in the family aspect of his or her baby book, and chose names (Aden Michael if a boy and Isabella Grace is a girl). When August came, my husband had to work. I went in for my appointment, had a urine pregnancy test and ultrasound. The doctor told me congratulations, estimated I was due in February, scheduled my next appointment, and told me to make sure that I brought my fiance in the next time that maybe we could see something (he couldn't get anything on the ultrasound and attributed that to the fact that I am overweight). He then ordered me a blood test so that I could get a proof of pregnancy for WIC (women infant and children program that helps young mothers during the child's first five years of life and pregnancy). I got a call a few days later telling me that I had lost the baby. Broken-hearted, we chose to name out angel Taylor Austin and placed all of his or her (I believe boy) things in storage. Since then, I have been super depressed. The depressive episodes brought back suicidal tendencies and thoughts that I had to an extremity when I was younger. A therapist suggested looking into reborns as a sort of emotional outlet. In October of 2011, just shortly after my 22 birthday, I stumbled across a beautiful baby girl on eBay. When I looked into her little face I knew that I had to have her and convinced my husband to buy her for me. Ever since then, reborns have been a huge part of my life. Though they do not take the hurt and depression away from me completely, they do help me cope.

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry about your loss. No one can know how that feels unless it happens to them. I'm glad you got into reborns. They do help with stress. It;s nice to have a forum with others that share your hobby....I have met a lot of nice people in the reborn community.
