I'm new to the reborn community.

Hello my name is Emily. I am really terrible at introducing myself I always find myself lost for words on what to say... I'm a mother of two my oldest left home and my youngest is 18 and I'm a private care giver to a couple who has dementia and a photographer on the side. I stumbled onto YouTube by accident.... Anyways I was interested very much... I then did some research on how therapeutic reborns to mothers and to the elderly and on top of that what a good model a reborn doll for photographing. So much positive just from a doll. Soon I want to learn how to make one. I'm artistic with a lot of different mediums (sculpting, painting, etc.) I feel that I can. I am happy to announce I'm reborn pregnant. I will have my first reborn beginning of march

Congrats to your reborn expecting I stumbled onto reborns too through YouTube. My first baby is a custom and my artist said she will be completed by end of this week. Hopefully by mid next week she will be in my arms.

It's exiting. Mine is a custom too. She is going to resemble my youngest when she was a baby. Mine will be done in march maybe the end of February. Are you going to do a box opening? And congrats to you too

Yes I'm going to do one. Funny is that mine will be delivered to my job. So my co-worker said she would video tape for me because she wants to see what the hype is all about, lol. I will first do my shopping haul video this week. I have gotten a number of adorable outfits. Shopping for newborn girls is so much fun. I purchased the bassinet from Once Upon A Child (resale shop). Are you planning a box opening video?

Yes I am. I will do a shopping haul video as well. I haven't got a bed yet, I'm not sure what I want. Your box opening sounds exciting... It's so nice to have found someone who is expecting their first one it's so new and exciting. I still have another month to wait thank God February is a short month.

My reborn artist sent me pics of my little one to get approval of her skin tone and to ask me a few questions. Wow....she's almost done. Tomorrow afternoon she plans to start rooting after finishing her veining. Although I will have her by next week sometime....still seems so far away, I'm so anxious I look forward to seeing your box opening. When I do my video Friday I'll post here that its uploaded to YouTube.

I look forward to seeing your video too. I find myself watching reborn box opening videos and watching their excitement makes the wait feel longer but I can't help it.... Hearing the excitement in the people's voices and hearing how happy they are...just brings a smile

You got alot of cute stuff. That first 3 piece monkey outfit was adorable, and that blue onesie with the dog on front. I went to my neighborhood Goodwill and they didn't have much of anything in Newborn size, only bigger kids. I'll check out the one near my job. Isn't getting little girl stuff fun?

I forgot how much fun it could be and its really neat that they will never grow out of their outfits. The last time I shopped for baby stuff was 18 years ago.. I wish the days would speed up. I could hardly wait. You got some neat and adorable stuff. I can't wait to see your box opening video.

That is the awesome thing is they never outgrow the clothes, lol. I remember when my girls were babies. I always purchased the cutest stuff, but they never got to wear them long. Can't wait to do more shoppping. Guess this is one of the best things about having reborns is dressing them up.

I find my self watching a lot of box opening videos and soon we will be experiencing the excitement of opening up our reborn. It sure is going to be fun. I'm planning on taking my out and watch the people fuss over her and then seeing their reaction when they learn its a doll. I want to learn how to reborn. Arts comes naturally to me I seen how to make them and I know I could reborn.

Is your baby going to be a sleeping or awake one? Mine is an awake girl. I'm planning my next to be a sleeping. I think the sleeping ones are really cool to do reaction outings with for sure I plan to take mine out periodically too. My mom's interest has piqued in learning how to make them as well. Next weekend we're going to the big doll show. Hope to learn a few things and have some fun. I'll take my little one with us if I get a stroller before then. I saw you have your car seat. I don't have mine yet. I was thinking to get the combo stroller/carseat type. I keep checking Craigslist for a reasonable one and the Once Upon A Child resale shop.

Mine is a sleeping baby. I got my carrier for five bucks. I washed the lining and it came out looking new. I want a stroller too but I want one where I can do my speed walks and jog the one with 3 wheels. I'm not sure but I have not seen one at second hand store yet. I'm also wanting a bed but My house is small I don't have a lot of room so I have to be creative. I'm thinking of a sweet nice carved wooden chest. I have seen some pretty ones. I'm thinking of making a bed out of that. The only reason is for one where I live it's real dusty and I have a cat so the trunk will serve to protect her from dust and my cat. I'm debating.

I've really been enjoying your comments in this thread. I have a new reborn coming around the same time as you and Lalaboobaby too. I truly enjoyed both of your YouTube videos of your recent hauls. Because I have a couple of reborns home already, I have some clothes for now but I loved seeing what's out there and can't wait to go shopping myself in the future! But for now, my extra cash is going on fun flannel fabrics for my new reborn nursery area. Like FantasticPhotos, my house is small and space is at a premium (and I had to find room for 3 beds!) But I managed to find just a bit of space after all, and I'm currently working on beds adapted from this YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klDm5L95fA8 I'm actually using 3 matching plastic drawers recycled from a storage unit as the base for mine. I also love your idea of using a carved wooden chest...that sounds awesome! If you do that, please post it somewhere where we can all see it.

I will publish the chest I get. There is three that I like. I would make a mattress to be in the chest where you open a chest it will look as if it was made for a baby I think I am going to do the chest. I just don't want to risk the doll being ruined. It will look perfect all I have to do is figure which chest I want.

Another good thing, is that we are expecting around the same time frame how exciting

The chest idea I also agree sounds like a cool idea. I'm eager to see how that turns out. Ohh and on the jogger walkers, not sure where you are, but check Craigslist. I saw some listed in my area on there. I'm not only wanting to get next a stroller/car seat combo, but also maybe a changing table with shelves. I have a pet too, a dog. He stays downstairs. I don't allow him on the carpet which is upstairs only. I wonder if either one of you have had or plan on doing a cute little babyshower or something somewhat significant to celebrate your baby. I laughed with my co-worker by telling her I may pick-up some special cupcakes and bring them to work. No one turns down sweets at my office

Mypoetic..I saw that video before too. I also saw some other similar vid's. Although I have a bassinet for my little girl, I'm thinking of making one of these as well. Looks like fun.

I am not sure about a baby shower although I would like one. I don't know anybody who would go to a shower for a doll. I do know who would come but none of them live in Roswell nm. I may have one for "show" on YouTube not sure how to play that out I will do some thinking.

I was thinking since my mom is going with me to the doll show next weekend that afterward we would go to a restaurant for dinner and have a cake and open a few gifts. Could be cool to record for YouTube. I'll let you know if I do that, lol. Ohh I'm going on a trip probably end of the month. I was thinking about purchasing one of those mommy slings. That way I could easily carry my reborn on the plane and around while on my trip. I'm sure I'll get some shocked looks when I proceed to take the sling off and put it in the basket to be xrayed, LOL. Folks will probably think I've lost my mind. Ohhhh my that will be funny to see the wide eyes and me having to explain.
